Biysk technological institute is a subsidiary of Polzunov Altai State Technical University located in Biysk, which was founded in 1709 under the decree of Peter the First.
Biysk technological institute trains specialists in 41 educational programs for full-time, part-time and extra-mural courses in six departments:
- Faculty of Information Technologies, Automation and Control
- Faculty of Chemical and Machine building Engineering
- Faculty of Mechanical Engineering
- Faculty of Economics
- Special Faculty of Engineering
- Faculty of Ongoing, Distance and Sandwich Training.
Biysk technological institute trains 2986 students including 1688 full-time students, 341 part-time students and 957 extra-mural students.
277 lecturers are working at institute. Among them, there are 154 candidates of sciences, 31 doctors of sciences, 1 academician of RAS, 1 corresponding member of RAS, 12 people were decorated by the state, 57 people were given honorary degree “Honorary worker of Higher Professional Education of the Russian Federation”.
The institute trains 64 people on 8 postgraduate academic staff programs. The institute has dissertation committee.
Nowadays, Institute is working closely with Naukograd and Altai Krai enterprises; it is a part of regional biopharmaceutical cluster, participates in ROSNANO educational program on the companies’ staff development, engaged in polymer energy-packed and nanocomposite materials creation. The institute elaborates new materials and provisions, software programs and commercial projects, electronic and ultrasonic devices.
Employees’ achievements were highly appraised from the state and social structures in the form of FR Government Prize in the sphere of science and technology for young scientists. Biysk Technological Institute was awarded with 9 prizes of Altai Krai in the sphere of science and technology, President of the Russian Federation grant supporting scientific schools, 5 President of the Russian Federation grants supporting young scientists, medals from international exhibitions and conference diplomas.
Scientific and innovative activity is implemented by means of State contracts within Federal Target Program “Kadry”, RFBR and RFH grants, Federal programs “START” and “YMNIK”.
Scientific research results are commercialized in 11 small innovative enterprises, established according to the Federal Law № 217.
